The Hawk
Poet: Farid ud-Din Attar
He was a soldier with a soldier’s pride,
This hawk, whose home was by a king’s side.
He was haughty as his master, all other birds
Thought him a disaster,
He was a soldier with a soldier’s pride,
This hawk, whose home was by a king’s side.
He was haughty as his master, all other birds
Thought him a disaster,
Nurturing energy, forget words and guard it
Conquer your mind — do non-doing
In activity and stillness
Know the Source Progenitor
There is no thing
Whom else do you seek?
All poetry that touches the heart, and enlightens the mind is sacred poetry. The Sacred Poetry Project celebrates the universal healing force that arises when we engage with poetry that brings us closer to ourselves, and what we hold sacred.
